Chiaroscuro

Scheduled a last-minute morning shoot this morning (have another one in the evening) with a model who himself likes to shoot photos. When we were done, I asked him to photograph me before I got another haircut, and here's a couple of shots.Friday, August 24, 2007

Sky Space

During a visit to Seattle's Henry Art Gallery today with a friend (see previous post), I snapped a few pics in the gallery's wonderful SkySpace. The natural oval frame is not a digital overlay--it is the structure itself.Sunday, August 19, 2007
Hempfest

Before the rain arrived on Sunday, the weekend busy place to be in Seattle was Hempfest. As a non-smoker (in all senses of the word), I went on Saturday as a detatched voyeur. I didn't shoot many photos of the fest itself, feeling self-conscious about shooting people in a situation where illegal activity might be occurring.Saturday, August 18, 2007

The Other Side of the Lens
Today I had the privilege of posing for R. Edward Jack, a marvelous photographer here in Seattle and a very nice human being. I've posed for him a few times in the past, and always enjoyed the experience.Today we shot over 900 photos. I had a blast, as you can see...

I Shot J.R. (and I'll Do It Again)

I met the delightful and beautiful J.R. few years ago, and missed the chance to shoot him at IML in 2006. I always regretted that. We had planned to do a shoot while we both happened to be in San Francisco a few weeks ago, but the weather and schedules didn't cooperate. At least I got to snap these candids while he worked collecting donations at the Dore Alley Street Fair.I'm planning to head back to S.F. for Labor Day, and hopefully we'll finally get to do a real shoot..

Travellin' Dark
An international blogging pal asked why I hadn't posted any shots of myself from July's trip to San Fran. I explained that I rarely shot myself outside the studio, and usually busy shooting everything else. But my good friend Bucephalus, a fine photographer in his own right, who had flights that corresponded with mine, and whom I had fun shooting at Dore, was nice enough to snap an occasional image of me during the trip. Here's one, as we negotiated the public transit from San Francisco International Airport to get to where each of us were staying.I always wear leather when I fly. The fabric is actually quite comfortable, water resistant, and the look discourages people from messin with you. The zipper boots are easy to remove and reapply during the security checks. And there's something exhilirating dressing like a rock star when travelling--if one is sitting in coach.

Babycakes

Bouncing around the Dore Alley was this kid, who's name I never did get. I called him Babycakes not only because he had the hottest little butt in the whole place but also for his playful flirty energy. Here's a few snaps of him. I gave him a card asking him to pose for me, but have yet to hear. Someday, maybe...Sunday, August 05, 2007

More Lomography

Finally finished up a roll of film in the Lomo Fisheye 1 camera, and here's a smattering of the results, starting with a shot of my exhibit in Queer Eyes 3, then a streetcorner in Seattle, a couple shots from a road trip to Idaho, and then the convention center in downtown Seattle.Wednesday, August 01, 2007
Portrait of the Artist at a Leather Event

We'll start out our coverage of the San Francisco trip last weekend with a self-portrait of sorts (peer into the glasses of my good buddy Bucephalus at the Dore Alley Street Fair and you'll see me in a blue shirt) and one of the last pictures I took--a shot as Big B and I were waiting for the BART to take us to SFO.
